Weaving & Spinning – Textile World https://www.textileworld.com Wed, 23 Oct 2024 13:58:10 +0000 en-US hourly 1 https://wordpress.org/?v=6.1.7 Rieter Investor Update 2024: Restrained Investment In New Machinery Except China https://www.textileworld.com/textile-world/weaving-spinning/2024/10/rieter-investor-update-2024-restrained-investment-in-new-machinery-except-china/ Wed, 23 Oct 2024 13:58:10 +0000 https://www.textileworld.com/?p=99605 WINTERTHUR, Switzerland — October 24, 2024 — The market environment in the reporting period was characterized by restrained investment in new machinery in almost all regions except China. Demand for consumables, wear & tear and spare parts weakened slightly due to the low spinning mill capacity utilization. The noticeable downturn in consumer sentiment had a further dampening effect throughout the entire textile value chain.

Despite this challenging market environment, the Rieter Group recorded a gratifying order intake of CHF 629.8 million in the first nine months of 2024 (2023: CHF 452.2 million) in all market regions. In the third quarter of 2024, orders increased by 78% year-on-year to CHF 226.4 million (2023: CHF 127.2 million). This means that the order intake has increased for the third quarter in a row.

Sales

Rieter’s cumulative sales in the first nine months of 2024 amounted to CHF 584.3 million (2023: CHF 1 092.9 million), a decrease of 47% compared to the prior-year period. Sales in the third quarter of 2024 were CHF 163.3 million (Q3 2023: CHF 334.7 million).

The Business Group Machines & Systems generated total sales of CHF 264.1 million in the first nine months of 2024 (-65% compared to the same period of the previous year). The Business Group Components posted sales of CHF 184.5 million, 11% lower than in the corresponding period of the previous year, while the Business Group After Sales recorded a slight decline of -1% to CHF 135.7 million in the first nine months of 2024.

Order backlog

As of September 30, 2024, Rieter has an order backlog of around CHF 690 million (September 30, 2023: CHF 900 million).

“Next Level” performance program

The transfer of resources and responsibilities to India and China to enable the key markets to respond in a more agile way to customer needs and cycles in the machinery business is on track. The planned cost savings were achieved. Rieter continues to consistently implement the action plan to increase profitability.

Outlook for the full year 2024

Due to the overall geopolitical situation and the general deterioration in consumer sentiment, the market recovery is proving to be more restrained than previously forecast. The first signs of a recovery in financial year 2024 have emerged in the key markets of China and India.

For the full year 2024, Rieter now anticipates sales in the range of CHF 900 million and an EBIT margin remaining at 2% to 4%.

KARL MAYER Warp Preparation Announce Contracts In Conjunction With ITMA ASIA + CITME 2024 https://www.textileworld.com/textile-world/weaving-spinning/2024/10/karl-mayer-warp-preparation-announce-contracts-in-conjunction-with-itma-asia-citme-2024/ Fri, 18 Oct 2024 14:46:50 +0000 https://www.textileworld.com/?p=99450 OBERTSHAUSEN, Germany  — October 17, 2024 — With its exhibition at ITMA ASIA + CITME, KARL MAYER warp preparation focuses on sustainability and efficiency and hits the bull’s eye. The exhibits are among the top talking points at the KARL MAYER GROUP stand. On display here will be a latest-generation beam warping machine with a unique working speed of  max. 1,200 m/min, the brand new CASCADE system for significantly reducing steam consumption, costs and environmental impact during sizing, and the equally new Smart Size Box – a sophisticated technology that makes a valuable contribution to the topic of predictive maintenance by monitoring the condition of wear components and thus aroused the curiosity of many visitors, including a delegation from Pinhua Garments Co.

Assistant Sales Manager Li Zhi (left) and Gabriel Chiu (right), Regional Sales Manager for China at KARL MAYER Warp Preparation Business Unit, with their guest from Pinhua Garments

The renowned company based in Shijiazhuang in north-eastern China specializes in the processing of recycled staple fibres and focuses on high efficiency and low water consumption. An ISOSIZE and an earlier generation KARL MAYER sizing machine are already in production in its warp preparation department. Pinhua Garments has now invested in another innovative warp preparation solution, a PROSIZE with VSB Size Box. With the signing of the contract, the state-of-the-art sizing equipment celebrates its premiere on the Chinese market.

At the trade fair, the experts from Pinhua Garments first learned about the possibilities of the Smart Size Box HSB and expressed great interest in this latest development for the sizing sector. The advantages of the advanced solution include less unplanned downtime and maintenance costs, and therefore more efficient, but also quality-assured production processes.  Like all PROSIZE Size Boxes, the Smart Size Box enables a cover factor of up to 100% at a maximum sizing speed of 160 m/min, with 200 m/min also possible as an option.

KARL MAYER PROSIZE

In addition to the Smart Size Box feature, the Size Box VSB was the subject of the exchange with Pinhua Garments Co. The innovative sizing equipment works with a highly efficient application technology that uses up to 10% fewer sizing additives compared to the immersion bath process. This saves costs, energy during desizing and waste water. In addition, the ability to control the yarn tension by the sizing system is an important advantage in view of the demanding processing of cotton. This performance convinced Pinhua Garments: The company ordered a PROSIZE with VSB Size Box.

Gabriel Chiu, Regional Sales Manager for China at KARL MAYER Warp Preparation Business Unit

“This investment is a reinforcing vote of confidence and I’m pleased to see our customer willing to grow with KARL MAYER through different generations and developments of machines,” says Gabriel Chiu, Regional Sales Manager at Warp Preparation Business Unit.

The company achieved full vertical integration of the entire apparel manufacturing process — from spinning, knitting, dyeing, and sewing — a first for Korea’s apparel OEM industry.

Over the past decade, Global Sae-A has invested $200 million in Costa Rica, starting with the operation of its first mill (34,000 spindles, 8 million kg annual production) and followed by the completion of its second mill in 2022 (36,000 spindles, 8 million kg annual production). With the completion of its third mill, Sae-A Spinning has tripled its production capacity and expanded its ability to produce a wide range of yarns in response to rapidly changing market trends.

Global Sae-A continues to explore investment opportunities in Latin America, in alignment with the growing near-shoring trend, where buyers seek to position production facilities closer to consumer markets.

WK Kim, chairman of Global Sae-A Group, commented: “With this expansion, we are optimizing CAFTA tariff benefits for duty-free exports to the U.S., further strengthening the global textile supply chain.

“Sae-A Spinning has been a leader in sustainability by using 100-percent U.S.-grown cotton, ensuring traceable and eco-friendly production processes. We remain committed to maintaining our leadership through our traceability system, sustainability certifications, and green manufacturing processes.”

Global Sae-A Group continues its growth as a global conglomerate, encompassing the world’s largest apparel manufacturer and exporter Sae-A Trading, fabric manufacturer Wintex, sportswear production specialist Tegra, fashion brands In The F and S&A, as well as the top-ranked international construction company Ssangyong Engineering & Construction, and corrugated paper and packaging company Tailim.

Trützschler’s Integrated Draw Frame (IDF) In India: Flexibility For The Upcycling Of Textile Waste https://www.textileworld.com/textile-world/supplier-notes/2024/08/trutzschlers-integrated-draw-frame-idf-in-india-flexibility-for-the-upcycling-of-textile-waste/ Mon, 26 Aug 2024 15:27:02 +0000 https://www.textileworld.com/?p=97999 MÖNCHENGLADBACH, Germany — August 26, 2024 — Trützschler and the India-based company Gimatex have a long relationship that began in 2006. Since then, they have successfully collaborated on many projects. Gimatex has used Trützschler’s IDF successfully in direct spinning. Now, they are using it to turn textile waste into valuable ring yarn.

From left to right: Shailesh Thakur (Deputy General Manager Sales ATE), Shiladitya Joshi (Deputy General
Manager Marketing Trützschler), Vineet Mohota (Director Gimatex) and Gautam Kumar Dhang (CEO Fabric Business Gimatex).

Gimatex Industries Pvt. Ltd. has high standards for quality and sustainability. The company operates fully integrated facilities with ginning, spinning, recycling, weaving and processing units in Hinganghat, within India’s major cotton-growing region of Vidarbha. It also runs a state-of-the art fabric processing unit in Dholka, near Ahmedabad. As a family-owned company with over 125 years of history, it has a lot in common with Trützschler. Together, the two partners are working in close collaboration with the shared aim of extending that long history far into the future.

“Our clients demand consistent quality and competitive prices,” said Vineet Mohota, director at Gimatex. “We meet those demands by always leveraging the latest technologies to boost quality, save energy and make progress for sustainability. Trützschler is a strong partner for that work.”

Lower costs and higher productivity

Trützschler’s Integrated Draw Frame (IDF) technology is at the heart of this collaboration. Gimatex is using these innovative solutions to produce high-quality yarn. In particular, IDF enables Gimatex to produce top- quality yarns from a uniquely wide variety of raw materials — from 100 percent cotton through to polyester, recycled fibers and blends of various different inputs.

From left to right: Gautam Kumar Dhang (CEO Fabric Business Gimatex), Vineet Mohota (Director Gimatex) and Manish Deolankar (General Manager Gimatex) in front of Trützschler’s Bale Opener.

Gimatex mainly uses Trützschler IDF to manufacture rotor yarns in a direct spinning process. Direct spinning means shortening the spinning process by eliminating draw frame passages. Fiber slivers are fed directly from the card into the integrated drafting passage. This direct spinning concept uses less electricity and less space than conventional draw frame passages, which helps Gimatex to cut costs while increasing output volumes — with no compromise in quality. Most often, IDF technology is used for rotor and vortex spinning. However, the team at Gimatex is now also one of the first spinning mills in India to develop a special IDF process for producing traditional and recycled ring yarn. This allows the company to leverage the same setup it uses for open-end yarn. The ring yarn produced in this unusual way is mostly coarser varieties and recycling blends for cotton/spandex (lycra) products, with Ne 10s and Ne 16s. The yarn goes through a blow room into a TC 15 card with IDF, before entering a Trützschler TD 10 draw frame, a speed frame and a ring frame.

Longstanding partnership

“The performance of Trützschler’s IDF machines is great,” says Mr. Mohota. “We also get support from Trützschler’s expert teams. They’re always available to give guidance and answer questions, and they’re able to access data from around the globe to share best practices for every application.” Gimatex and Trützschler have established a close relationship over a long period. IDF machines are a flexible, highly efficient and sustainable technology that is helping to extend that valuable partnership. As market conditions in India continue to evolve, we will keep working hand in hand to adapt to change successfully – while meeting high expectations from customers.
