Mayer & Cie. China Shows First In-House Development At Shanghaitex: New Machine Type For Three-Thread Fleece https://www.textileworld.com/textile-world/knitting-apparel/2019/12/mayer-cie-china-shows-first-in-house-development-at-shanghaitex-new-machine-type-for-three-thread-fleece/ Thu, 05 Dec 2019 18:02:12 +0000 https://www.textileworld.com/?p=55167 ALBSTADT, Germany — December 5, 2019 — At the Shanghaitex trade fair, held November 25-28, 2019, Mayer & Cie. China (MCN) exhibited its new machine for manufacturing three-thread fleece. The MFC 3.2 is the first in-house development by the German circular knitting machine manufacturer’s Chinese subsidiary. It produces light to heavy linings and is specially geared to processing polyester yarn. The MFC 3.2 will be available from spring 2020; the material it produces is used in sports- and leisurewear.

“Three-thread fleece linings are popular all over the world,” said Marcus Mayer, Mayer & Cie.’s technical director, “albeit with important regional differences. In Europe and America customers appreciate heavier, warm cotton fabrics, whereas in Asia light, fluffy fabrics made of mixed synthetic fibres are preferred. That is why the MFC 3.2 is a major addition to our Chinese portfolio.“

MFC 3.2: Tried and trusted basis, market-specific alignment

The new Chinese three-thread fleece machine is based on the established Mayer & Cie. MBF 3.2, the qualities of which deliver the goods in the MFC 3.2. They include the high quality of material on both sides of the fabric and the production of challenging weaves. At the same time, the Chinese
Mayer & Cie. team attached importance to catering for local requirements, first and foremost processing polyester yarns. Thanks to cam parts developed in-house the new machine performs these tasks reliably and efficiently. At up to 30 rpm on a 30-inch diameter cylinder the MFC 3.2 produces three-thread fleece for sports- and leisurewear. Mayer & Cie. China Shows First In-House Development At Shanghaitex: New Machine Type For Three-Thread Fleece

The MFC 3.2 is more than a three-thread fleece machine, however. A conversion kit transforms it into the MSC 3.2 II, the most popular machine in Mayer & Cie. China’s portfolio. The conversion works in both directions, which further upgrades the single jersey machine because “in the highly saturated Chinese single jersey market the fact that the MSC 3.2 II can be converted into a three-thread fleece machine is an important selling point,” managing director Mayer noted.

Visitor numbers down at Shanghaitex 2019

Visitor numbers were down by a third on two years ago, the Shanghaitex organisers reported, but Mayer & Cie. China was still able to achieve its targets for the trade fair. “What we wanted,” Marcus Mayer said, “was to enlist field test partners for the MFC 3.2 and gain an initial customer response. The visitor influx that the machine ended up by delivering was larger than expected.”

Some customers may already have expressed interest in buying the new machine but the investment climate in China and throughout Asia continues to be subdued due to trading difficulties between China and the United States, to local trouble spots and to the tense state of the global economy. Yet some visitors sounded a positive note at Shanghaitex. “Many of the people we talked to expect the market situation to improve from spring 2020,” says Marcus Mayer. “Whether it will do remains to be seen, but we are well positioned in any event.”

Oerlikon Presented World Premieres In China https://www.textileworld.com/textile-world/supplier-notes/2019/11/oerlikon-presented-world-premieres-in-china/ Tue, 26 Nov 2019 18:14:02 +0000 https://www.textileworld.com/?p=55088 REMSCHEID, Germany — November 26, 2019 — Oerlikon has invited all visitors to this year’s Shanghaitex in China on a journey into the future of manmade fiber production. From November 25-28, 2019, Oerlikon showed all its guests its vision of a sustainable and automated manmade fiber production at its 100 m² stand in Hall E1, D20: “Clean Technology. Smart Factory.” was the motto of the future. And this was only a stone’s throw away from reality at the stand. Because today Oerlikon was presenting the four ITMA Barcelona world premieres for efficient machine and plant concepts in a new, innovative industrial design. Together with numerous other innovations, all this forms the new DNA of the Oerlikon Manmade Fibers segment.

Launched to create new standards in texturing: the eAFK Evo generation of machines promises superior speeds, greater productivity and consistently high product quality, along with lower energy consumption and simpler operation vis-à-vis comparable market solutions. Oerlikon Barmag showed these wide-ranging capabilities at the trade fair with a high-end design from the new system platform. In particular, the numerous value-added features include two that are excelling with cool technology: the optimized EvoHeater and the EvoCooler, a completely newly-developed active cooling unit.

WINGS FDY is now also newly available for the polyamide 6 process. With this development, the tried-and-tested WINGS technology — to date well-known for FDY yarns from polyester manufacturing — is now also available for the challenging polyamide 6 process. This new 24-end winding concept makes the efficient production of FDY PA6 yarns a reality.

Extending the polyamide yarn production from 12 to 24 ends with DIO and WINGS FDY pays yarn producers dividends, particularly in terms of investment expenditure (CAPEX) and operating expenditure (OPEX): significant savings with regards to energy, footprint and — due to the more ergonomic design — a rather convenient string-up are among the WINGS FDY PA concept’s most convincing arguments. The enclosed draw unit ensures low spin finish emissions, offering a safe working environment.

Offering swift string-up, the optimized yarn path of the tried-and tested WINGS FDY PET system is united with the high relaxing performance of conventional polyamide systems to create a completely new concept. The 24-end WINGS FDY PA hence profitably combines the benefits of both processes. The result: outstanding yarn properties, excellent dyeability, optimum process performance and high full package rate. A perfect package build guarantees excellent further processing properties in the downstream processes. With a 116-mm stroke, this winder makes high package weights possible, therefore delivering added-value yarns for further processing. As a consequence, yarn manufacturers can give themselves a competitive advantage in the marketplace

The BCF S8 production plant promises carpet yarn manufacturers greater punching power within a fiercely contended market. Superlative spinning speeds, up to 700 filaments per yarn end, finer titers down to 2.5 dpf — the performance data and technological finesse of the new system already made an impression at its unveiling at the German DOMOTEX trade fair in January. At Shanghaitex 2019 the monocolor and the tricolor version of the BCF S8 was unveiled.

Polyester and its applications are omnipresent in our everyday lives. Whether as beverage bottles, film packaging, high-tech sports shirts or safety belts, polyester excels with its excellent mechanical properties and inexpensive production. However, the constantly rising demand requires responsible handling of global resources. For this reason, it is not only ‘virgin polyester’ generated from crude oil that is exclusively the raw material for manufacturing, so too is polyester recycled from post-production and postconsumer waste. Processing production waste also helps cut raw material, disposal and transport costs, hence increasing efficiency.

With the new VacuFil® recycling series, Oerlikon Barmag in cooperation with its subsidiary company BBEngineering is offering a solution catering to a “clean technology” production philosophy. Decades of experience in the areas of extrusion, filtration and spinning systems have been bundled into a new, innovative core component — the vacuum filter. It unites gentle large scale filtration and controlled intrinsic-viscosity build-up for consistently outstanding melt quality. The vacuum unit – located adjacent to the filter — swiftly and reliably removes volatile contamination (spinning oil, etc.). The excellent degasification performance additionally relieves the energy-intensive pre-drying process.

The modular structure of the VacuFil range offers numerous possibilities for the process guiding system. Whether as a standalone solution with downstream granulation or as an inline variant with 3DD additive feed — customer requirements can be optimally catered for with various system configurations.

Shanghaitex 2019 Exhibitor Preview: Mahlo GmbH + Co KG https://www.textileworld.com/textile-world/2019/10/shanghaitex-2019-exhibitor-preview-mahlo-gmbh-co-kg-at/ Wed, 09 Oct 2019 19:02:37 +0000 https://www.textileworld.com/?p=54206 SAAL/DONAU, Germany — October 9, 2019 — From November 25-28, Shanghaitex will gather decision-makers from the textile industry in China’s metropolis Shanghai. Mahlo GmbH + Co. KG, market leader for straightening machines, has been a reliable partner to the industry on the world’s largest market for textile machines for years. At stand W2 D17, the German machine manufacturer will be presenting the latest developments in the field of straightening and controlling on running web, together with its long-standing sales partner Kuantex.

“We offer solutions for obtaining high-quality goods with a more efficient production,” said Clemens Kaplan, area sales manager East Asia at Mahlo. Visitors to the stand can expect an insight into the broad product portfolio of Mahlo systems. At one of the largest Asian trade fairs for textiles, the automatic straightening system can of course be seen. The Orthopac RVMC-15 weft straightener is the latest generation of a successful product that combines decades of experience with the latest technology. The opto-electronic scanning for distortion detection with oscillating lens and newly revised digital signal processor is probably the most sensitive and versatile system on the market. Arranged on a carrier bridge, several sensors, evenly distributed over the width, detect the position of the weft yarn simultaneously at different points. The scanning system recognizes and analyses the angular position of weft threads, stitches or tufting rows. An intelligent control algorithm with self-optimization function, together with the hydraulic or electric roller positioning adapted to it, ensures that all fabric distortions are reliably removed. With its new generation of 15 machines, Mahlo is also responding to customer demands for increased connectivity of its machines. mSmart is the name of the German technology leader’s concept, which defines the digital environment. “Our systems generate data that the customer can immediately use to control goods on-line. In addition, these values are stored in our new data management system and can be retrieved at any time in order to optimize processes and minimize weak points in the process,” explained Kaplan.

Regulated yarn density for uniform basis weight

Visitors to the Mahlo and Kuantex experts will also be able to learn about the latest process for online control of the number of weft threads/meshes rows, which also determines and balances the basis weight. The FAMACONT PMC-15 uses a sensor to measure the yarn or stitch density and compares it with the target value stored in the recipe data management system. The detected deviation of the yarn density from the nominal value is used to fully automatically regulate the advance during the pinning process on the tenter frame. The so-called feed-forward control ensures a constant yarn/loop row density and a uniform basis weight. The special feature: the system can analyze both warp and weft yarns. Depending on the fabric speed and fabric type, the opto-electronic TK sensor can detect up to 220 threads/cm, the camera sensors CK and CK HF up to 270 threads/cm depending on the design. The Famacont PMC will be running live at Shanghaitex. That is: Prospective customers can let their goods samples examine directly from place.

Growing market for technical textiles

“In addition to classic woven fabrics, technical textiles are also becoming increasingly important on the Chinese market,” says Kaplan. Therefore, special systems for this sector will be presented at booth W2 D17. The Orthopac CRVMC-12 and the Orthopac GRVMC-15 are designed for particularly high mechanical loads. The Qualiscan QMS-12 quality measuring system for measuring basis weight, thickness or moisture also reinforces every textile production line. At Shanghaitex, Mahlo will present the Webpro XS-II, the most compact of its measuring frames.

The experienced experts on site will explain which solution is the right one for the customer’s application. In this way, production processes can be effectively improved.
